Appropriate livestock husbandry - keeping animals safe
Cows grazing in a meadow, pigs wallowing in mud, hens scratching on open land. Do you believe that cows, pigs, hens and their cousins deserve to live in happyness? And do you believe that it is time to put an end to intolerable conditions in animal husbandry? Then KAGfreiland, the Swiss organisation for the protection of farm animals, is the group for you.
KAGfreiland is a charitable organisation. Since 1972, we have been running our own animal projects to encourage species-appropriate livestock husbandry, campaigning against poor conditions in animal husbandry, and an active presence in politics and on the market. Our principle: KAGfreiland doesn't just criticise - it shows the animal-friendly alternative.
KAGfreiland is also the organic label that has the strictest animal welfare guidelines in Switzerland. The KAGfreiland sun symbol on a product guarantees that the animals from which that product was made were kept in the best possible conditions. Every day, our farmers show that animal-friendly husbandry works in practice.
7000 members and sponsors support our activities in behalf of cows, pigs, hens and their cousins - so why don't you join them? The animals need you!
What does KAG mean?
Today's KAGfreiland was established in 1972 under the name of KAG (Konsumenten-Arbeits-Gruppe für tier- und umweltfreundliche Nutztierhaltung / Consumer Workgroup for Animal and Environmentally Friendly Animal Husbandry).
